Past but fairly recent sets, desktops and icons I've made.

Now to note, I've only recently come into the world of icon making and so the ones I show you are the only ones I've current made. 2 of them (The Ueda one's) have already been posted to the KAT-TUN LJ community I've started "stalking" (Toungue) but the other two haven't, since I'm waiting till I make more to post icons again. Anyways to the works..

Sets Two most recent sets. The first made on the 19th and the 2nd made today.

(Two avvies because I couldn't decide)

Desktops All the desktops were made for my use. They are in order of my use (The 1st one I only used the desktop with the text) and the last desktop and the one above the Pirates desktop I didn't really do much to them, other than add text and do a few small things)

Now have at it. I expect you to rate every single one of them too. Toungue Nah you don't have to, but I'll appreciate all comments and criticisms. ^^
Hmm well, to be honest I'm not a fan-art of people because I'm a nature freak but I'll try to be unbiased Toungue

Looking at all your images I feel there is something missing... nearly all of the time, you do not extend yourself beyond the group of people/one person set against a background... Sometimes it's nice to have something more.

As far as the first sig, the text is rather hard to read and of all your examples, this one needs something "extra" the most. The whole sig is too dark. Due to the almost monotone look of the siggy, it's not very interesting to the eye. (I do however like the backgroun though.. it has a very nice pattern). Try adding a different colour- preferably lighter.'

As far as the second sig... The background is boring, the text is even more boring and the picture chosen of the guy isn't the most flattering picture... You didn't post your original picture so its hard to see how nice you cut him out ect.. but technically it was done well.. just.. missing a lot of stuff that makes the difference between good and great

As far as the desktops go...

For the first and seconds ones, if you made the background, it's pretty nice I actually like it. The colours are very nice. However, what you did with the pictures just aren't working. You should have chosen to fade the people instead of just cutting them off.. which makes them look awkward

The third one is okay. Nothing right or wrong I can say about it. For what it is, it's nice, however it's not eye-catching.. it just is.

For the fifth one, this one was done very nicely (once again however since you didn't post original pics I'm not sure what you did with it) However, the black font on the railing is very distracting.. you should have at least changed it to the same colour as the main text

The sixth one, that border has just go to go =/

And lastly, why are the people stretched funny?

I sound a bit harsh, but I can't really tell what you have or have not done since you didn't post the original pics. Keep up the good work though.. no where to go but up
I can post all the original pictures if you'd like. ^^

For the 5th, that text was actually already on the railing with the orginal image, and I tried taking it out, but I got frustrated and gave up on it, and I actually came to like it. Perhaps I could have made the text I added match the text already on the railing...

For the 6th one, which I call the Pirate desktop, I'm not sure what you mean by border... ><

And if your talking about the last desktop which I think you are, they're probably stretched weird because I tried resizing the image to make it desktop size, and it did not come out perfect. But I don't care so much about the stretching personally, I actually didn't even notice it. Toungue

Anywho.. thank you for the harshness, I found it very helpful. ^^ For some reason lately I haven't been trying to do much with my sets at all... just trying to keep it fairly simple, probably because I need to learn something new, and I've for some reason been wanting sigs that might look a little darker. The background on the first sig is mostly the original background actually, it was probably taken on a stage with the lights on and all that after/before a performance.
Haha well, I am the queen of darkness.. believe me I hate working with light colours.. but take it from me, you can't just have all dark. Even if your working monotone with just grey and black, you need a lighter silver/grey to offset somethign or the eye gets bored and just mixes it all together in a pile of sludge :*
Hi Quinn. Smile

Firstly, I'm going to skip the sets and rate the wallpapers. The first wallpaper uses that technique I taught you a long time ago. Toungue It's not bad, but I personally think you need to choose better images. For example, pick images that do not cut off people's arms/shoulders/bodies, etc. Try to work with images that enclose the whole body, that'll give you a little bit more room to blend the image into the background and it wouldn't look awkwardly pasted on like it is right now. The second wallpaper is plain, but nice. Not much to say though. The third wallpaper, the darkish one, is my personal favorite. The odd border, in my opinion, actually works somewhat well and the wallpaper just seems to come together a little more than your other ones. The fourth is simple and nice, the text on the railing is good, but it doesn't look as natural as it could have been. The bad image choice problem goes for the fifth wallpaper as well, as the people on the ends are awkwardly cut off. The last wallpaper is stretched, which is basically an automatic no-no. Toungue

Onto the icons, I personally think the icons are pretty well done, actually. I like the no border version of the first icon better. The backgrounds on all of them is very nice, and it's good to see you experiment with different effects and styles. The background is nice on the first and second icon, while the overall color scheme is well done on the last. Smile
Ooh reading WIS's rating I realized I somehow skipped the fourth link. That one is my personal favourite as well.. I don't like thick borders generally, but that came out really nice Smile
WIS if your talking about the darkish one, I think you mean the 4th one not the 3rd, since the 3rd is a considerably light desktop. So that would make the one with the text on the railing, the All Smiles desktop, the 5th one not the 4th one. So that would make the lovely Pirates desktop the 6th one not the 5th. Toungue As for the stretching on the last one..I honestly didn't even notice it, I was just focusing on the kawaiiness of the guys. =P And I think I'll start making more icons.. you can already guess what the theme will probably be since I'm the kind of person who usually sticks with this same thing all the time since I happen to love it a lot.
