I currently have 26hp/20str/20def and 300K to spend.

I want to make the best set up for 1player, and any general advice on anything I can't think of.

Any suggestions?



Atm I have a lightning gun (not sure why), Obsidian Dagger, Scarab Stone Slingshot, Blue Scorchstone, Cloudy Wand of Storms, Leaf Shield, and Purple Sticky Hand equipped, but I am ready to sell them off if needed.

Well, if you have 300k, then you should train. It's always the most important, except for special cases. What you have is great, you should also have at least one Scarab Ring

Your set looks a tad dated. Out of those, you're only going to be keeping the Blue Scorchstone and the Purple Sticky hand (the latter in your SDB for Opponents that have something worthwhile to steal).

In One Player, your stats are your limitation, and I'd primarily recommend training. Likewise, you're going to be fighting Opponents significantly stronger than you, and shields and (most) dual-duties won't be much use to you past the 55 Boosts. You can still run them for now, though I don't see it benefiting you much.

I'm going go with the cheaper route to your set.

Ice Club x2 (to be upgraded to dual-Scuzzys Comb when possible, with dual-Essence of Esophagor as backup)
Blue Scorchstone (To be upgraded to Greater Healing Scroll once you break 44 or so HP)
Downsize!
Purple Sticky Hand
Snowglobe Staff

Your last two slots should probably be back-up weapons, but right now there aren't really any "good" back-ups for your budget. Dual-Spider on a String or dual-Scroll of Dark Nova are options, but in most cases your Ice Clubs would be getting reduced to six-iconers anyway so it wouldn't make a difference.

You buy scarab ring because its insanely usefull at low level battling, the Ice Club its a cheap 9-iconer, good for 1p as you want to performance in this. Illusens Earth Potion its a cheap and good bomb, the best per price.At every time you can withdraw if the SS not freeze your opponent, so its a good option. Downsize! its for battles when your opponents are more powefull than you. this, joined with the others weapons that you had, makes and interesting combo.

Question for Newyasic: What is your pet species?

If you are looking into a full-attack set up, Shattered's suggestion is good. But if you want to utilise the defences you have, I would suggest that you keep your Cloudy wand of Storm and Blue Scorchstone in your permanent set and purchase the following:

Jade Staff
Thief Dagger
Scarab Ring
Snowglobe Staff
Ice Clubx2

The Leaf Shield and Purple Sticky Hand has a place in your SDB, which you can use as and when needed. Other than that I would just sell the rest off, and continue to train your stats.

Why waste money on variable defense weapons that quickly end up blocking only a small almost negligible percentage of the opponents attack? For 1p the best thing you can do is train, if you also have NP set aside for training and 300K purely for the set I would go with this:

Purple Sticky Hand

Either way you arn't getting far with 20/20/20 stats. If an opponent is using a lot of dark, physical, or fire and is still relativly close to your pets stats, jade staff/Golden Compass and Scarab ring would be good. There are very few dual duties that I would recommend for 1p, and they all become irrelevant as you get more and more wins

Because at his current stats and his current budget, the only 1-player opponents he is likely to face would be those at a lower ends, and who are not dealing much icons to begin with. I never said that going defensive was THE way to go, or that these weapons should not be upgraded as and when needed in the future. But he will find them useful enough to be equipped to his pet against a wide variety of opponents in the lower level, without having to change or constant adapt his set to suit his needs.

Also, at the end of it, you are still echoing a bulk of my suggestion (with the exception of Thief Dagger and Cloudy Wand of Storm), so I find your remark a little contradictary.

On the part of Downsize! at your 1-player level, unless you know that you are gonna be facing mass amount of icons from your opponents (eg Mr Chuckles and his Ultra Bubble Gun) this one-use, situational shield is pointless. You are better off having dual duties or shields, cos they can actually do more in terms of defence.

My last spot is still a bit undecided, I see alot of you recomended me to use the Snowglobe Staff. From the description I cant quite understand what is so good about the item, it seems that it has a 20% chance of freezing the opponent, and a 20% chance of attacking, and 60% chance of doing nothing that benefits me. Would you not say that the Blue Frost Cannon, or something of that sort would be a better replacement. Sure the % is only 10, but it does do damage as well every time?


As for stats, I know I dont have much, and I am training them, basically I am using the academy 2 or 3 times a day (depending on when I get to go on), and doing as many kitchen quests as I can (I do them if the items add up to less then 4 or 5K) My budget is growing atm, and I should have enough to train for quite a while. I make most of my cash through the WC (If I have a whole hour to devote, I can almost always get at least 1 map piece between 10K and 25K), and getting my pet to a relitively respectable level and strenth (At least to 150 total stats between HP, Str and Def) is my top priority right now.


My pet is a Ruki, and atm his only fairy ability in use is burrow.

So far I find that defense works fairly well for me in 1 player battles. With the scorchstone, burrow, and excess health from faerie healing, I find myself having basically 3 extra moves in the beging on my battles before I go down to normal traditional fighting.

I havent actually hit the 20 mark for str and def, they are actually both at exactly 18 right now (But by today they will be so I didn't really feel like mentioning extra info), afterwards I plan on bringing my hp, str, and def all up to 35 (I believe the next mark) in that specific order.

So far I have been able to beat everyone challenge rating 63 and under (Minus just a very few that I have not found yet) in the battle dome (I was only able to do it up to 58 before I got the weapons upgrades from you guys )

I am rethinking my advice on variable defense weapons at least for some opponents.

Against Boochi, the cave chia, Harry and maybe a few others a combo of leaf shield and scarab ring would almost completely block them. However, they only do 4-6 icons max per turn. With that combo it is still possible for them to get 2 icons through on most opponents to your 6. As your wins progress the shields get weaker and weaker and eventually they are doing more damage than you are and you need to witch over to a 9 iconer. The thing is that in most cases Just fierce attacking with 2 ice clubs in the early rounds (when dual duties are most effective) would be just as effective, and probably faster than the defensive route. There might be a small fraction of time where the dual duties could be helpful, but I would have to run a lot of math and im still working on getting a spreadsheet up

At the 13 Boost, your defense will be "useless" against any 35 Strength Boost Opponent. (This is on the grounds that you will be defending only two-thirds of the icons you would normally be blocking.) It's still possible in certain situations to gain a higher average of net icons by relying off of defensive tactics, but the ratio will only continue to worsen. The 20 Boost will be overwhelmed by a 55, and the 35 by an 85. (So about two Boosts higher, I'd say.)

The other problem with defense is that you don't always know that your Opponent is going to throw a specific icon-type at you.
