NOTE: This is a just-for-fun topic.
I've always wondered what weapon the majority of IDB members think is the best weapon. So now I'm here to find out.
First, before you pick your weapon, remember to take into consideration these factors:
1. Availability (for instance, retired, RIC, or Smugglers Cove items would have a bad availability).
2. Price.
3. Power against common sheilds/faerie abilities (like Burrow or Sink).
4. Species weapons don't count.
Not sure if this is in the right forum. Sorry if it isn't, I didn't see any other forums this seemed like it would belong.
"It depends."
For One Player: SuAP, with the exception of any 2,000ish HP plus Pet running WotDF or I-Staff for infinite-heal. But realistically, and despite the price tag, SuAP. Followed by the other Peas.
Out of "affordable" items, either Slumberberry Potion or Jade/Elemental Vial, depending on the Pet's HP. However, I think Slumberberry Potion (and freezing in general) become out-classed against certain Opponents if the person is running dual-G-Swords.
Two Player: Either the Jade/Vial, or a combination of Aisha Scrambler and RotL (realistically: nothing gets through that combination except Peas). Kings Lens is a personal favorite, but not dealing with Air really kills it.
Ideal weapons (like ones that could be classified with "the best") should have significant power in both 1-player and 2-player battling.
Hum, I'm tempted to argue (shy of Jade/Vial), that Ring of the Lost might win. It's affordable, potent in One Player, and (along with G-Shield) completely changed the scope of Two Player battling by further rendering SoS useless.

That's a good try, but with it's icon types, it is completely killed by Sink. Therefore, Scarab Ring hardly qualifies as "the best".

I'm going to disagree (not necessarily about Scarab Ring, but about Burrow/Sink). Even if a weapon is getting half its icons through Burrow and the other half through Sink, I would rather have used a weapon designed to get
completely through one or the other (or four weapons with two destroying Burrow and the other two destroying Sink). I don't see that as being a requirement for the "best" weapon.
Not to mention the situational things like healers, stealers, generators, reflectors, etc.
The question is too subjective ...

I'd actually argue in scarab ring's favor. For it's price, it's GREAT! it does 6 icons of attack and 6 icons of attack, totallying 12 icons, and at it's price, that's less than 100 np per icon, giving it the best price per icon ratio of ANY reusable weapon. (full blockers only count for the maximum number of icons of applicable that someone could attack with at once). You said to include price as a factor... However, in reality, while scarab ring is still good, the relation ship between price and power is not a linear one, and defense isn't worth as much as attack. Seriously, if you want to take price as a big consideration, your answer will probably be extremely unremarkable... I'd probably say that if you were to plot a curve of all the "good" weapon's price vs. power,
Bow Of Destiny and
Wand of reality would be some of the farthest under the curve. The most powerful weapon ever which you have no chance of getting is Darigan Sword Of Death.

. But that doesn't count.
Also: It sounds to me sort of like you're looking for specific answer. Are you? Because it's a very debatable question.
Avoiding Sink and Burrow isn't really a requirement. It's just that the "best" weapons should be able to stand up against those type of things, because you're going to come across them often. And the Scarab Ring is completely hit by Sink, and it is also hurt by Burrow. With those two abilities so widely used, and the Scarab Ring being killed by Sink and badly damaged by Burrow, Scarab Ring users will have too many battles in which their Scarab Ring is rendered nearly useless.
And, no, I'm looking for no specific answer. The factors which I am so sharply judging upon are just to narrow down the list of possible weapons.
Why are you trying do decide on a "best weapon ever," though? Different weapons are good for different things.
Scarab ring is the best weapon for a 2-player battler with under 5K to spend,
Darigan Sword Of Death might be the best weapon if you happen to be featheralley (although I could make a strong argument that J-Wand or I-Staff would be better, concidering her pet has over 10K hp... as shattered said, infinate heal

) Basically no weapon can thrive on it's own, or excell in all ways. I can make "disqualifying" arguments for basically every weapon in neopia.
