Hey, I just started doing the battledome a few days ago and I'm at the point where I want to get better weapons but have no idea which ones to get. I've been trying to use the InDB database to answer my questions, but I would love some input from you nice people. Smile Here's what I've got currently:

Pet name: Kyzere
Species: Gnorbu
Level: 12
Strength:22
Defense:22
Health:23

Current set:
-Scarab Ring
-Obsidian Dagger
-Blue Scorchstone
-Leaf Shield
-Sinsis Crown
-Caustic Potion
-Mud Mixture
-Downsize!

Budget you have to spend: Currently only about 15k because I've been spending it all on training, but I'm going to start saving and am willing to wait however long it takes to get the weapons you guys suggest.

Daily income: anywhere from 10k to 30k depending on how active/lucky I am.

Do you play mostly 1P or 2P battles?: 1p. I battled a few times with a friend of mine but she's training right now and probably won't be strong enough to fight Kyzere for quite a while.

How do you train your pet: Mostly Dubloons and sometimes Codestones if I'm in a hurry.
Hmm... I'm actually not sure what immediate advice I should give. You're still at the point in One Player battling where shields and dual-duties are viable options, but by the time you hit the 35 Strength Boost you'll be just about past it.

Obsidian Dagger, Leaf Shield, Sinsis Crown, Caustic Potion, and Mud Mixture will leave your set in the relative future. The most useful out of those is Leaf Shield, until you grow past the point where defense will help in One Player. (Defense is far more of a necessity in Two Player, and only has limited usefulness in One Player while you're rising the ranks. Ultimately it becomes useful way down the road in One Player. At this point, I'll recommend you stick with Defense training, given that you're still a newbie and there's a fair possibility of you going into the Two Player scene.)

For a fair upgrade from the Mud Mixture and Caustic Potion, two Fighting Fans are an option (looks like they're going for just under 9K each at the moment). I think that Earth Faerie Slingshot (going for a tad under 40K apiece at the moment) are the cheapest 7-9 iconer. Beyond those, Ice Club will be the cheapest nine-iconer (they look like they're 70K at the moment, and the price on those has been fluctuating since they came out).

When you hit around 44 HP (maybe a little sooner), Greater Healing Scroll (30K last I checked) will be an upgrade from Blue Scorchstone.

Snowglobe Staff (looks like they're around 25K at the moment) are a chance freezer you might want to play around with.

And that's the newbie range in a nutshell.
That's a good set to begin with, only that I suggest you add a Purple Sticky Hand to your set. Since you've only started in the Battledome, you'll probably face some newbies as well who might not know that if person A steals an item from person B, person A will steal the first slot item from person B. And if person B is not aware of this, he or she may put a useful item in the first slot, meaning person A will have a bigger chance of defeating person B provided that their boosts are the same.

I'd suggest you to stick with Dubloons for now to save up some cash for upgrades. I would train strength and defence to thrice your level, then train level back up so you can further train on strength and defence etc. For example, in your case right now, you can train strength and defence to 36, then train level up to 19, then train strength and defence to 57. So basically, you should train strength and defence to thrice your level, then train level to the level just before the amount of money you need to pay increases, then train strength and defence back to thrice your level. You would probably want to train health as well, so I suggest you train health until it is twice your level so you can still train strength and defence. This might sound a bit confusing, but here is a guideline:

Level: 12
Strength: 36
Defence: 36
Health: 24

Level: 19
Strength: 57
Defence: 57
Health: 38

Level: 29
Strength: 87
Defence: 87
Health: 58

Level: 39
Strength: 117
Defence: 117
Health: 78

Level: 40
Strength: 120
Defence: 120
Health: 80

Always train in the order:

1. Strength
2. Defence
3. Level
4. Health

Strength and defence can be alternated at any time, but make sure level and health come last so you don't have to pay extra.

I don't see much you can do with your battle set at the moment. Just keep saving up.
Has training changed since I last paid attention? Last I was aware, only HP could be trained to three times Level, while Strength and Defense capped at two times Level.
Oh, maybe I didn't read the information carefully enough. Can you please check for me? I'm at my mum's office right now, so I'm not that convenient to check on Neopets...
Thank you both very much for your advice, I will keep an eye out for the items you suggested and continue with my training.

I am a bit confused though, WiltChamberlain13, about how I can train to thrice my level--I understand how it would be beneficial, but I was under the impression that no stat could exceed twice the level stat in either the academy or the training school. Is this not true? I hate to be a bother, but could you please maybe explain to me how this is done? Sorry that I am so new at this...:-\'\'
I'm a bit confused as well, as I always thought that any stat can be thrice the level. But Shattered Rift says that only health can be thrice your level. In that case, your training guideline would be:

Level: 12
Strength: 24
Defence: 24
Health: 24

Level: 19
Strength: 38
Defence: 38
Health: 38

Level: 29
Strength: 58
Defence: 58
Health: 58

Level: 39
Strength: 78
Defence: 78
Health: 78

Level: 40
Strength: 80
Defence: 80
Health: 80

That would be a lot easier, which is keeping strength, defence and health the same at all times, but still following the order that you train them.
Okay, I will do that! Thanks a lot! Smile
You are most welcomed. Sorry about the previous confusion though. The Enchanted Wooden Bow can also be a potential upgrade soon.
Actually, over-training HP (getting your HP up into the next Codestone range before you Level's there, but leaving enough space so that it won't go over and cause problems) isn't a bad idea since you're not going to be Labbing for a good while yet (given your current income). It'll definitely save some cash and time.
I'd say:
Train to the 35 boosts. At this point, Dual Ice Club might be a nice addition to your set. Then just keep training, at least through the 85 boost.

Also, your budget has prompted me to ask a question: How do you make your NPs? I bet there are mays that you could make alot more than you're making now. Smile
