I'd like to thank all of you who applied to become an IDB Rater. The field was MUCH better than I expected it to be, and we simply had more good applicants than we could forward on to the third (interview stage). This site has a great number of people who have battledome knowledge and ability, not all of whom are on staff, and unfortunately at this time, not all of whom are advancing on the process to become staff.
I know you may be thinking, yeah right, that's what they're supposed to say. I'll give you a couple of things to think about to hopefully assure you of my sincere intent in what I've said. 33% of players who applied with IDB ratings of 2,000 didn't advance. 33% of players with IDB ratings of 1,500 didn't advance. 50% of non-rater IDB staff taking the test didn't advance. There are people who didn't advance to the third stage who could be raters, and who are qualified to do so. Maybe another group of graders would have picked the order slightly differently. We did the best we could, I think we were prompt and thorough. I think every name that we advanced has real potential.
For those who didn't advance, I hope you'll continue to learn, to grow in your expertise, to be active in the forums and help share that knowledge. We'll have openings again in the future, and by all means apply.
At this point, EVERYONE who submitted a test has been sent a PM from me indicating their position. If for some reason you submitted and haven't gotten one, PM me, and I'll respond to you. There were hours and hours of time put in on the tests, some not in your first language, and I thought you all deserved as personal an update as time allowed for your efforts. I'd also like to thank those who were notified earlier today that they were advancing for NOT posting such as requested.
And finally, I'd like to thank the people who did the test grading. We finished up around 4a.m. this morning and the last cuts were made in the last hour. Graphitesmoothie, Kagemucha, Q77 and I were the original committee doing grading and I'd like to thank the other three for their efforts and putting up with my nagging and asking for third and fourth gradings on the tests. And I'd like to thank Cranberry, who wasn't on the original committee, but who I drafted in to help and who did a massive amount of work. We didn't want you all to be waiting forever, and I think the turnaround time was exceptional for an undertaking like this. Thanks also to all the other IDBers, Phoenix, Forte, Stimulatus and anyone else I'm forgetting who added comments or helped on grading.
Good luck to all who advanced as you get ready for the interview stage, and thank you and good luck to those of you didn't as well. Keep at it, and we'll hope to see you apply again in the future. lance
Very impressive job getting those all read and graded in under two weeks.

Should we ask yet how long it'll be until the interviews proceed, or should we give you guys a week to relax after immersing yourselves in several thousand words of BD thoughts and analysis?
Yeah, congrats for getting through them so fast. lol

Also congrats to those who got interviews.
just a quick post to say vermont and and the guys did a great job, and what he says about the field being better than they expected, and the hours they gave up grading being scarily true.. these guys did a great and thankless job, fair play and much credit to them, and from what i read of the answers to the quizzes, the field was incredibly and insanely strong.

Good luck to those who advance, may the force be with you Wink
Just wondering. How many spots are there available?
I don't think the next committee has been formed yet, so I'll throw out an educated GUESS.   As many spots as there are people who so dazzle the interviewers that they KNOW the IDB won't be near as good of a place if you aren't on board.   Remember, that's a PERSONAL opinion guess, and NOT a factual statement
I'm impressed at the commitment of those who read the quiz answers. I can only hope that I will be equally impressed by the quality and quantity of ratings by the soon to be raters because I will not be one of them. I wish all the would be raters the best in their attempt.
I am sure that we will have some great raters because I just asked for some battledome advice, and a couple of really committed people gave me really good suggestions.
If they got in as raters, then that's great. If they didn't, then the people that do must be even better again!
:\'( I didn't make it

I guess I'm more fit for games, but I'll try again on the next application. Toungue Now, I just need to catch up with BD today, my mindset is still like stuck in the past where Florbix blasters were common weapons XD

I'm pretty sure that whoever end up being the raters will be more than well equipped to state wise opinions about the weapons. If they made it through to the interview you can bet that they know what they are talking about.

What I wish to see is a bit of life and entertainment in the ratings. There are certain past raters that I enjoyed reading cos they simply entertain me with their explanations no matter how good or bad the weapon is. I wanna see more of that coming Smile
it seems I didn't make it to the interview stage, but it's not a big deal
however, I was wondering if it was possible to view some of the answers (you can remove the names) for the quiz when you release it to the public

I think it'd be a very good way to learn more Toungue

good job rating those quizzes so fast btw
I certainly didn't excpect to receive results so quickly
