Thing about starters is that they've already been bred to death in most cases.
The Box I have full of max Atk/Spd Naive Chimchars & max HP/SpD Calm Piplups is reflective of this.
um, yeah. i mean starters from any games. oh yeah, and anything (including items) from 1-3rd generation.
and you can't breed for IV's, but if your parent's IV's are higher, that's good.

Off the top of my head, be careful to conserve the Gym prize TMs, Stealth Rock/Flash Cannon/Charge Beam/Shadow Claw/Avalanche/Grass Knot particularly notable. Others that I can think of are Roost & Rock Polish. Item-wise, it doesn't matter as much, since item clause seems to be a given in most tournaments, but Choice Specs/Life Orb are hold items that are once-only.
