Please post the weapon along with their origin here.  An IDB Rater will update it as soon as possible.  Thank you!

Example Format:

Sword of Skardsen - Hidden Tower
Sword of Domar - Battle Magic Shop
Isn't that information stored for 95%+ of this on neoitems.net? With the only real exceptions I can recall being the plot prizes/advent/etc still have their description including the "other" source (Battle Magic as opposed to the Advent, etc)?
You're probably right, I don't frequent neoitems.net

Anyways, we would still want that information here, as the more information related to weapons that we can add, the better, and some people may not know of that site.

My point was for one of you to head over there and go through each list, seeing as you can select each Shop and then go through their entire list. It seems like a bit more work would be involved for me (an extra person) to transcribe the list over here. But I'll see if I can get the time today before someone else does.

Edit: As I'm doing some of this from memory, I may have shuffled one of the Altador Dailies into the Altadorian Armour. Also, I hope you don't mind my slightly altered format (it's easier on me for the sake of repeated copy/paste).

Graph to Shattered: I'm sorry, I accidentally destroyed some of your list, as I went over the char limit. You might want to do a new post. o__o
I was unaware of that neoitems function. Thank you Shattered Smile

Yes, this method does involve a bit more work. If you don't have the free time, IDB is in no way forcing anyone to get the data. The Staff could do it all ourselves, but there is only so many of us. We are all busy with real life (along with things that will "revive" IDB Wink), so we could use all the help we can get.

Lots of weapons Toungue

Altadorian Armour=Illustrious Armoury Shop
I think the best thing to do is to make it updateable by the staff/raters. When a weird item comes along with unknown or weird origin (as in, not from any of the shops), then they should just put in the information. However, I don't think it's necessary to systematically go through and update the origins of commonplace weapons.

I'm going to disagree (and not just because I'm compiling the list, Toungue). Even though some Items are rather obvious (the Desert and Haunted set of weapons), I think this would be beneficial to people that have the patience to attempt to restock a rare weapon, or that want to form a Gallery from a certain Shop. If half the Raters weren't already aware of NeoItems, it's quite possible other battlers aren't, either, and IDB may be their only source.

Kage, do you guys have the function automatically there when you click to view the Items through the Javascript link? If so, I suppose you're right. It seemed awkward to me since not all the rest of the HTML is there (Rater Avatars being the most noticeable).

Also, some of these Items aren't showing up in the IDB. With some of the potions I can see why, but there are a few random Scrolls (erm, I think it was one or more of the Brightvale Scrolls) aren't listed when the rest are, which seems odd. Missed a few, maybe? Anyway, I've got about seven more minutes to work on this before I have to take care of other things. If someone wants to start going through the Battle/Defense Magic lists (as well as their Advent sublists), I don't plan to tackle those personally until the end.
TOSO, it's true that not many people will care about the origins of commonplace weapons. However, like Mike said, IDB focuses on getting the most complete and comprehensive weapons database. Getting the origin data will help us in that goal.

Shattered: No we don't. It would be slightly easier (for Raters) if you did a direct link with

Code:
[url="(url)"]Weapon Name[/url]

It's only a minor inconvenience, don't worry too much about it.

Are you sure the potions that aren't listed are actually weapons? Many potions can't actually be equipped.
kagemucha Wrote:Are you sure the potions that aren't listed are actually weapons? Many potions can't actually be equipped.
Several of the healing potions can't be equipped either, but IDB still includes them. Do what you want with them.

Getting the links into url format would be a pain, and I don't have the time at the moment to do it. I'm trying to get the last three(?) sets of weapons up now that won't take long to put up, after which I need to see about getting my laptop fixed today.

Edit: Anyhow, there's the preliminary list, excluding the three Shops mentioned that will triple (or quadruple, maybe) the length of the list. I may or may not have missed a Shop in there. An Item or two that needs to be under a more specific category may have gone overlooked. Etc, etc, other disclaimers are there as you scroll down through my insanity. I'll be back sometime tonight, probably.
Another thing that occurred to me recently: There are some weapons out there that we have NO CLUE where they come from. Skarls Sword is probably the best example, but other esoteric items like Sands of the Dark Faerie [sic] might be more readily available (not that people would want them, but they're cool) if people could figure out where they come from.
Quote:I can't recall the actual origin of the Motes, or which Motes are unique to the Brightvale Motes.

The motes originally came from the Magic Shop, with only

Metallic Mote
Dung Mote
Electrical Mote
Air Mote
Neopian Mote
Robot Mote
Plushie Mote

being unique to Brightvale's shop. Incidentally, those last four were released on the joke day of no artists, so I don't know if they actually exist.

Quote:Magic Item (whatever Shop it is that sells Bottled Faeries in Central) is going to be another issue: there are more than 600 Items sold from that Shop, and I'm pretty sure I recognize some off-hand from my newbie days as being BD weapons, but the Bottled Faeries, Morphing Potions, and the like certainly aren't. I'm skipping over that Shop for now.

There are loads of potions at the Magic Shop that do in fact have in-battle uses. However, there are also loads of items in general that look like weapons and actually aren't. Looking through Neoitem's list of 'Magic Items', most of the items there aren't even from the Magic Shop to begin with, and I don't have the time right now to sort through and pull out all the actual battle items.

Quote:Blue Healthshroom

This was also once available from the Healing Springs, and was actually still able to be bought there well after the Apothecary closed. However, I'm not entirely sure where it came from first, on account of joining Neopets after it already existed at both locations. Anyone older than me have any ideas?

Quote:Zapatron 2000
Florbix Blaster
Calculation Device
Bzzapper
Pocket Satellite
Utility Gloves
Dwoobaphone
Virtublaster 2000
Virtublaster 5000
DZ-849 Implosion Device

As their descriptions say, these were all once different items. If my memory serves me

Zapatron 2000
Florbix Blaster
DZ-849 Implosion Device (almost positive, despite the lack of name-change information in the description. I do know its name and picture were certainly changed at some point)

were weapons given out by the Spy Kids quest, while

Pocket Satellite
Virtublaster 5000

were given out by (possibly Space Station-specific) random events. The ones I didn't list came from one of the two sources (I'm pretty sure), but I can't recall which. If an old player with better memory could check this, it would help.

Quote:Pocket Blaster
Zapatron 4000
Fungus Ray
Garoo Elite Blaster
Bzzt Blaster
Virtublaster 3000
Sleep Ray
Goo Blaster

These all came from Rare Item Codes, even though only the first two say so in their descriptions. I know all the items from Fungus Ray to Goo Blaster came from the Return of Sloth TCG codes, but I think the first two must have come from the Grundo Warehouse codes (as I'm fairly positive that they didn't come from TCG codes, but clearly came from some codes).

Quote:Shaken-up Can of Neocola

Actually, you get this through the Neocola Machine.

Quote:One other issue with this set is that the Red, Blue, and Green Neocola Tokens are listed under Battle Magic. Are they weapons, o.O? There's not listed in IDB as such.

The Neocola Tokens are listen under Battle Magic because Neoitems made some weird error. They do indeed restock at a weapons shop (Space Weapons), but aren't weapons themselves.

Quote:Locator Device
Ultrasteel Helmet
Spy Glasses

Again, former Spy Kids quest items. These were all given out by the Spy Kids quest, and only the Ultrasteel Helmet was changed from its original name.

Shattered Rift, you did a great job compiling a list of weapons origins. It made it much easier for me to go through and correct the more-obscure weapons (I don't think I would have made an effort otherwise).
