T'was the Oscars very recently. What are your opinions on the winners and losers? i'd have liked to see Rinko Kikuchi win Best Supporting Female for her role in Babel. Otherwise, I'm quite happy with the results. Good to see Martin Scorsese win an award. At last.
I am not happy with best actor. I don't know. I didn't think he was the best actor in all of those nominations. I didn't really have much preferences except for him Toungue I didn't think he was up to level compared to the other nominees acting.Of course I haven't seen all the movies that were nominated. But I saw most of them.

I was pretty pleased with the Oscars this year. Although I detest Celine Dion so I had to mute the TV for a while.
Biographical films always seem to do well for Best Actor. Note Jamie Foxx and Philip Seymour Hoffman. And Forest Whittaker was the best of the actors.
I like how they really emphasised how we need to take care of our planet. "An Unconvinient Truth" really did deserve the award and its great that they took it to the next level and really encouraged people to make a difference. I mean the whole Oscars orginization seemed to want to help the cause.

BTW those sound effect people were out of this world!
I don't like the whole Oscar event. Basicly because those awards rellies heavily on trends. Nice that i didn't saw it because I detest Celine Dion too.

In Mexico the tv networks made a lot of noise because around 10 mexicans was nominees and 3 of them won. All on technical awards.

I don't think that Scorsese deserved an ward for this particular film, also i don't think that The Departed was the better movie... but also i don't think that all of the nominees should be (specially Babel)
I wanted "Little Miss Sunshine" to win for best picture. But then, maybe that's because like in rating weapons, I'm looking for best value per np spent, and I think it was best film per $ spent. I have no problem with Forest Whittaker winning. I also didn't watch the whole deal, as I don't watch TV at all, and don't care for Celine Dion or Al Snore either. But then, hermits are like that!
Celine Dion did a fabulous job o_O

I was completely dissapointed that Pan's Labyrinth did not win Best Foreign Film. I thought that was a total gimme.

I thought Ellen was an incredible host too... I was very impressed.
I didn't think Scorsese should have won for best picture, nor The Departed to win best picture. How do you win for being the best director if you just copied most scenes/angles from the original version? Same goes for best picture.

I didn't think The Departed was a good movie, but I didn't see any of the other movies that were nominated. But nonetheless, why should it win if it copied the entire thing off of another movie?

Then again, this is from the perspective of an Asian person who watched all 3 parts of Infernal Affairs.

I'm not much of a movie person, so didn't really care about who won/lost. Ellen wasn't that great.. The only funny party was when she was vacuuming, and came upon Penelope Cruz, (whose dress was ripping and there was a huge piece of hanging thread on the ground). Smile
