ok i've just finally beat him after a grueling half-hour on NORMAL, level 33 and i think that either my strategy isn't there, or the suggested level has to be upped.
granted i was having fun with him as usual... but firstly, he seems to have rather high defence and rohane/talinia's attacks weren't up to their usual standards (rohane's critical is slightly less than what he normally does against normal monsters). that's all well and good, but mipsy's GDD level 10 doesn't seem to do anything at all. out of the 689372 times i used it, it hit max (44hp) once and 4hp(!!!!) damage twice, missing every other time. and when i tried lobbing frost potions, only 1 out of 6 hit.
That's STILL fine for a boss... but then i get Gerbarn down to 80+hp and he heals himself -.-

im fine with all the reduced damage and magic resistance, but i can't stand him healing 100hp every turn when i do an average of 105 damage. the majority of the battle went like this: rohane attacks, mipsy tries to attack (or haste or throw potions), talinia attacks, gerbarn HEALS.

or am i doing something REALLY wrong here? (aside from GDD; the wait time between spells is frustrating)
Mipsys max damage (and i guess every one) is her max hp then that can be reason why you didn't 100 damage (but again i can't remember how much HP has mipsy at level 33).

Also if you want to minimize the wainting time between spells you need to use casting haste (but i guess you knew this) but there's waiting.

I know how frustrating can be. Thats why i normally rant because those characters don't have respect for their lives and don't do anything to help them (they are weak and don't resist the attacks....)
Ah, Gebarn's a pain. The level I would recommend is 34 on Normal, 35 on Evil and 36 on Insane.

He heals quite a lot, so you need to be completely offensive. If you have damage shields, use them.

And yes, DD is better than GDD.

Gah... can't think of anything else to say... I'll say more later.
nope, no velm, that's what makes the battle so long-drawn. i jumped for joy when he finally decided to blast talinia to death when he was at 28hp
