Since 3 people did not submit their subtexts, and three people were supposed to be eliminated this round. This round is a non-elimination round. Which means, no-one will be eliminated.

However, judges, please still DO post your ratings with a score out of ten for each.

Maybe you can change the rules, such as allowing anybody to submit a subtext as long as it is done before the first round is over? With this type of contest, I don't think it can hurt the competition much. Might get more participation ^_^ To make it easier on you, to know who's actually submitting a subtext and not just randomly messing around, people who did not pre-signup would have to say some very specific text in bold or something of that nature. Just a suggestion.

Do our subtexts even get judged at all since this is non-elim? I'm curious at how my subtext would be rated so I would know whether to use the style again but I'm not sure if it will be without elim.

of course this kind of searching has its limits... some checks require a breakdown of the individual clauses... and the smaller the chunks, the less originality that can be possible

Here's how I colored it:
I checked for total number of results with each phrase/section.
Red = 25001+
Orange = 5001-25000
Yellow = 1001-5000
Green = 100-1000
Black = <100

Then I searched the individual clauses, and these weigh 1/4th as much as a whole phrase. For some it was hard to judge whether it a part should be given full weight or lesser weight.

Wow, who would have thought my first clasuse got 440,000 hits >_<

Well, shining bright is hardly an uncommon phrase, when you think about, someone may say, 'the stars are shining bright tonight'.

I'm pleased my actual subtext is totally unique, considering I actually thought of the first section first, and needed to finish it off.

I've never thought of Googling what I write though. o.o Interesting statistics.

I think that sounds like a good idea, or perhaps next time instead of signups, I'll just have an "Open" first round.

I dont know about the other judges though, but when I used to judge I'll mark a subtext just a tad down if I think they used a phrase that sounds common. Of course, this is a much more accurate way of doing so.

Disclaimer: I hate judging out of ten when there's this many subtexts.

This isn't fitting at all. There's no stars at all. There isn't any direct relation to stars to make out. Plus I don't feel your wording doesn't go too well. 6/10

I feel this is pretty straightforward. I don't think lightshow goes well with mystical, due to the contrast of the complexities of the words, but sure. *shrugs* 7.5/10

Nice. A bit long. I'd imagine it to take up a lot of space on a relatively small sig. 8.5/10

I like this, mostly due to its relation to user of the sig. 8/10

This feels really butchered to read out loud. Although I think its use is ok, I don't like this that much, since I like to read things out loud. 7/10

I'm not too preferrable on the "..." used. It reminds me of emos. Seriously though, it gives me that butchered feeling similar to Q's subtext. It doesn't help that you separated the subject and predicate of your sentence/subtext. 6/10
