With auroras happening at nights and all.
It was a nice fit, I must say. Tested it out to make sure it could fit on one line...

Maybe you can change the rules, such as allowing anybody to submit a subtext as long as it is done before the first round is over? With this type of contest, I don't think it can hurt the competition much. Might get more participation ^_^ To make it easier on you, to know who's actually submitting a subtext and not just randomly messing around, people who did not pre-signup would have to say some very specific text in bold or something of that nature. Just a suggestion.
Do our subtexts even get judged at all since this is non-elim? I'm curious at how my subtext would be rated so I would know whether to use the style again but I'm not sure if it will be without elim.

I got an idea for a plagarism check. I Googled people's subtext:
cateraction - How bright the stars' song
Your search - "How bright the stars' song" - did not match any documents.
Results 1 - 10 of about 39,800 for "stars' song". (0.24 seconds)
Ryguy - The Sky's Mystical Lightshow
Your search - "The Sky's Mystical Lightshow" - did not match any documents.
Pixalation - Of spellbinding phenomenon scattering the shadows
Your search - "Of spellbinding phenomenon scattering the shadows" - did not match any documents.
Results 1 - 10 of about 7,350 for "scattering the shadows". (0.55 seconds)
oogabooga - Shimmering in the sky *fade* as bright as my soul.
Results 1 - 10 of about 3,170 for "Shimmering in the sky". (0.43 seconds)
Your search - "as bright as my soul" - did not match any documents.
Benladesh - Drowning the stars in radiance
Your search - "Drowning the stars in radiance" - did not match any documents.
Results 1 - 10 of about 5,230 for "Drowning the stars". (0.50 seconds)
Q77 - Doom of Darkness *fade* Commencement of Light
Results 1 - 10 of about 6,970 for "Doom of Darkness". (0.06 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 90,200 for "Commencement of Light". (0.41 seconds)
Lord_Owlstar - A halo of light ... dances in the sky
Results 1 - 10 of about 27,800 for "A halo of light". (0.13 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,240 for "dances in the sky". (0.13 seconds)
brett618 - shining bright *fade* through the darkness of it all
Results 1 - 10 of about 444,000 for "shining bright". (0.19 seconds)
through the darkness of it all
Results 1 - 5 of about 1,010 for "through the darkness of it all". (0.54 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,170,000 for "through the darkness". (1.00 seconds)
professorelite - it floats so softly up above *fade* a painted sky depicts a dream
Your search - "it floats so softly up above" - did not match any documents.
Your search - "a painted sky depicts a dream" - did not match any documents.
Results 1 - 10 of about 16,300 for "a painted sky". (0.30 seconds)
Results 1 - 10 of about 25,300 for "depicts a dream". (0.08 seconds)
Blk Mage - Nature's Radiance
Results 1 - 10 of about 188 for "Nature's Radiance". (0.33 seconds)
of course this kind of searching has its limits... some checks require a breakdown of the individual clauses... and the smaller the chunks, the less originality that can be possible
Results 1 - 10 of about 19,890,000,000 for "the". (0.58 seconds)
Here's how I colored it:
I checked for total number of results with each phrase/section.
Red = 25001+
Orange = 5001-25000
Yellow = 1001-5000
Green = 100-1000
Black = <100
Then I searched the individual clauses, and these weigh 1/4th as much as a whole phrase. For some it was hard to judge whether it a part should be given full weight or lesser weight.
Do our subtexts even get judged at all since this is non-elim? I'm curious at how my subtext would be rated so I would know whether to use the style again but I'm not sure if it will be without elim.

Wow, who would have thought my first clasuse got 440,000 hits >_<

Well, shining bright is hardly an uncommon phrase, when you think about, someone may say, 'the stars are shining bright tonight'.
I'm pleased my actual subtext is totally unique, considering I actually thought of the first section first, and needed to finish it off.
I've never thought of Googling what I write though. o.o Interesting statistics.

I think that sounds like a good idea, or perhaps next time instead of signups, I'll just have an "Open" first round.
I dont know about the other judges though, but when I used to judge I'll mark a subtext just a tad down if I think they used a phrase that sounds common. Of course, this is a much more accurate way of doing so.

Disclaimer: I hate judging out of ten when there's this many subtexts.

cateraction - How bright the stars' song
This isn't fitting at all. There's no stars at all. There isn't any direct relation to stars to make out. Plus I don't feel your wording doesn't go too well. 6/10
Ryguy - The Sky's Mystical Lightshow
I feel this is pretty straightforward. I don't think lightshow goes well with mystical, due to the contrast of the complexities of the words, but sure. *shrugs* 7.5/10
Pixalation - Of spellbinding phenomenon scattering the shadows
Nice. A bit long. I'd imagine it to take up a lot of space on a relatively small sig. 8.5/10
oogabooga - Shimmering in the sky *fade* as bright as my soul.
I like this, mostly due to its relation to user of the sig. 8/10
Benladesh - Drowning the stars in radiance
It's a solid subtext. I like the imagery from this. 8.5/10
Theonlysaneone - DID NOT SUBMIT SUBTEXT
10/10. Really, you ask? No.
Kagemucha - DID NOT SUBMIT SUBTEXT
See above.
Q77 - Doom of Darkness *fade* Commencement of Light
This feels really butchered to read out loud. Although I think its use is ok, I don't like this that much, since I like to read things out loud. 7/10
Lord_Owlstar - A halo of light ... dances in the sky
I'm not too preferrable on the "..." used. It reminds me of emos.
Seriously though, it gives me that butchered feeling similar to Q's subtext. It doesn't help that you separated the subject and predicate of your sentence/subtext. 6/10
brett618 - shining bright *fade* through the darkness of it all
There's not much balance between the two lines. Besides that, not much to say. Read up on Owlstar's rating as well. 7/10
guardian - DID NOT SUBMIT SUBTEXT
I really like this subtext.
professorelite - it floats so softly up above *fade* a painted sky depicts a dream
This is really long even for a fade. But the wording is nice. 7.5/10
Blk Mage - Nature's Radiance
Very simple. Nature tends to give me an outdoorsy feeling with green stuff everywhere. But it's a solid subtext since nature is included in the sig. 8/10
