I've noticed how the amount of power used with these abilities varies. I've always used them on weak, but sometimes it automatically switches to the amont of power used on strong. This can be when I either block or don't block icons. Sometimes it only uses 10% power and I usually notice this when I block icons. Now I haven't been keeping track of which abilities I use when this happens, but has anyone done testing on how these abilties work exactly?
In my experience, regardless of the power used, it will always consume 40% power and block all of the respective icon. If my power was, however, under 40%, it would block a proportionate amount of the respective icon.
Like Burrow, Sink, and Drain Life, you have no control over the power consumed.
I'm pretty sure there was an article or something about this on IDB. TNT changed certain Faerie abilities to always use 39% power, but apparently, depending on who clicks first, you can still use 10% if you were trying to use the ability on weak. Unless my memory completely fails me?

That's correct. Which is really stupid, btw. When TNT modified faerie abilities, they must've only had 1-player in mind or something.
If you click first and the opponent does not use a faerie ability himself, your quench on weak or drain of weak or any ability on weak will only take 10%, if you click second or first when the opponent uses faerie ability you'll take 39% regardless of weak-medium-strong
how does this work for one player?
in one player you are always considered as clicking second.
This works for every faerie ability, not just quench etc. I've also done this with drain life. Doesn't work with regeneration abilities for obvious reasons. I've also noticed when burrow or sink only if you click first sometimes they stick around an extra turn or two.

Yeah exactly, sometimes burrow takes a whooping 50% though, I never figured out why, anybody know?
As for the one player, you always "click" secondly as paul already stated
