Intersting, somebody maked me down for my comment in this thread.
Let me say here for all to see, that if you think you would loose your friends if you stoped posting here, that they would not really be friends. This is the web, if there arn't a dozzen ways to keep in touch, as a minium, I will eat my mousepad on my webcam.
However I still concider the bandwidth of the server to be important. I would propose to mark down non neopets topics for the same reason that the battledome sales forum does not suport price checks for non battledome items.
The site has no adds, this comes out of a pocket somewhere. It costs somebody money, I just want to say, I respect that.
If Werewolf/MapleStory were banned from these forums, I doubt this site would be alive at all. After "boing" was removed, the site suddenly became very inactive. Regular members disappeared from sight....
Also, I doubt the small bits of bandwidth consumed from non-Neopets topics would matter much.... The iDB and iDB Community Forums, I believe, are hosted on a section of JohnM's
Creature World site. If Creature World didn't exist, the iDB wouldn't, either. If Creature World needs more bandwidth, we will be alerted. As for now, the server is doing fine, and the topics should stay.
If you don't want to participate in non-Neopets discussions, please simply ignore them.
errr...how come I have a -2 rep even thought I have only 1 negative rep and 1 positive rep...
I know that when a supermod gives or takes reputation, it affects you more than mods or normal members, so that could be it. (I haven't done anything to you though)
Is it possible to enable us to see who gave/took the reputation to/from us? That would help in weeding out people who use pointless excuses to lower someones reputation, such as "your avatar blows".

Having people senselessly giving negative points is one thing. Having people senselessly giving positive points is another.
Seriously, a newbie getting reputation point when all he has is just 1 post? I dunno about the rest of you, but that really devalues the whole point of this system.
I would rather have reputation points being reflective of the aid, effort, and activeness of a forum member, than just getting it from just the one and only post done in a few lines. As of now, it's a little too easy...
wow....just for asking a question, I got another negative....this system needs some serious tweaking.
btw: thanks to the (2) person(s) that gave me positives

You can't tweak people's behavior to not give out negative rep too easily.

That is its purpose. However, although you can't tell too easily, reputation DOES extend beyond just single bars of red and green. If you get enough positive, it becomes 2 bars...or more. And the same with negative. That's why Forte has 672986 green bars. That cheater. And some people have multiple red bars.

Huh, neat. How many greens (or reds) do you need before you get a second bar?

Good question. Can the mods set a thread with a breakdown? We would really appreciate it.
And I was a little surprised that there are five people who gave me rep points but my tally added to 9. Not that I'm complaining. Thanks, Graph

You get a second bar of green at 20. I wonder if red's the same... and how bad you'd have to be to get that many reds!
