Linae claims she helped fix the leak "just before the storm ended" (chapter 4, page 2)... but we know the storm ended sometime after 5:00, as it was still raging at 5 (we can see it in pictures). And by 5 that leak was long patched, since Anshu claims by 5 he was up on deck talking to Bonju and overhearing a second argument between Hoban and someone.

Yes theres too many inconsistencies, in all stories but Anshu and Linae, Anshu is on the deck. So I pressume he received many task, and receive the fixing leak task at three (thus not immediately after storm started). Another thing what I mean is, in the beginning of the storm everyone "panic" and do the best they can to help, thus after they're already "steady", the captain began to distribute the job.

and one other thing are we suppose to think that 4 and 5 are two frames or is there any frames between?

I think we can forget about assigning times to the graph's xs. Someone from PPT and I suggested the map and graph be overlapped where the red x appears above the line, and Daze at PPT made this for us:

As you can see, it works... if you follow the graph line with all the xs, which seems to be the original course, they'd end up at MI as planned. My friend suggests the storm hit at G19 (the above-the-line, overlapped x) and the ship was blown to that second red circle. From there they had to use wind power to make it to the close KI (along the dotted line). Hoban would have drifted the same direction as the ship, but a bit higher on the map, probably ending up around I22.

Make sense?

yes, it does. hoban wouln't have the bulk of the ship to be pushed around. I?m almost inclined to go hunting around the MI/KI maps to see if there?s a yellow neopet in the waters
Well my answer thus far is:

Who pushed Hoban? Linae
When did he fall? 5:00
Where on the ship did he fall? (still searching)
Where is Hoban now? I22
like the hat? no ^^

That's what I have, except I put "aft deck" for where he was pushed -- it's the last place he was spotted and I believe the Nimmo's porthole is back there (remember, he saw someone fall). I'm not 100% on anything, but I don't think it's possible to be, so this will have to do.

i'd agree with aftdeck being the last place, but i'll hunt for more solid evidence. portholes can be anywhere...

I was actually assuming that the two circles overlapped, with the circle on both maps standing for where the storm started, or was sighted, or something like that. Though, that would actually throw off how I numbered the X's...Ooops.

One thing to be careful about with the pictures: If you notice, everyone remembers Hoban talking about sailing into a storm a little differently. Which means that at least four people's accounts of tempers/actions/moods are slightly skewed, and possibly their recollections of who was around them at a given time are a little off, too.

Edit: As for portholes, I don't see any on the sides of the ship, oddly enough...that shouldn't matter, though, should it?

well then the line of X's wouldn't make sense would it...
yup, that's what we're supposed to catch to find the ans... eg linae/anshu talking after the dinner has 3 diff interpretations, from bonju anshu and linae.
and as for the portfoles... i wondered about that too, but i just took it for granted since hoban _is_ gone and the nimmo isn't a suspect ^^

The line of xs on the graph could be anything. People just assumed each x stood for a time, but they could spots where Hoban wanted to re-check his bearings, approximate places the ship should be by the end of each day of sailing, anything. All xs are below the line except for one, which seems significant. If you place the x from the map on that above-the-line x, you get a workable map -- the original line of xs leads to what we know to be the original destination, MI, while the detour puts you smack dab on KI, where they first showed up:

That has the graph line going right over KI, and we know Hoban never intended to go anywhere near that place (which is why Anshu was so annoyed).

That page has a lot of stuff wrong with it...well, two things that I can see, but whatever. I actually didn't think Hoban was the one who wrote on the maps, which is why I thought the progression of Xs was someone else on the ship plotting the position throughout the storm. I'm also not positive the scale on the two maps has to be the same. We'll see, though.

Does anyone else feel that a step was missing? The ship shows up in mystery island and when we talk to the captian it has spill the beans, reread the comic or go to the map room. The last stop it made in the lost desert we got to talk to Linae's story and we had yet to hear the ruki's story. Now we get to reread his? Also when we go to the map room it says "Just as the Captain said, the key he gave you has granted you access to Hoban's map room. Now if only there were something helpful in here..." now I may have missed something but when did he give us the key?
