Full Version: A question about double booting a computer

I was thinking of running two operating systems on my new computer, Mac OS for security, and then Windows for everything I can't run on Mac, so I was going to start saving for the Mac OS CD. Before I do though, I just want to ask if it is possible to do this, or if you can't run Mac OS on a Dell computer. (I wouldn't think so, but I just want to double check). And also, I am crazy for wanting to do this, the idea just seems so far out there XD
You need an Apple comp if you want both windows and Mac.

EDIT: Didn't Apple just recently release one computer that already has both?
You might want to look into Windows emulation software? I'm not sure, it's something a friend mentioned a long time ago.
Like Eddie said, you would have to buy a Mac first.. Since I don't think there are any Mac emulators for a PC. I know of 1 really good Windows Emulator.. I'll get it for you once I get back home..

Still, I don't know if it's entirely possible... I've run Windows/Linux together, but never Windows/Mac.. But mostly because MACS SUCK!
I'm not sure it's possible on a PC. You can't have your cake and eat it, too.
I've had two op systems on my PC before, can only run one at a time though...
Yes... It is completely possible to have more then one on your computer. But he wants to run them simultaneously and I don't think that is possible at all. At least not Mac OS and Win XP on a PC. You can't have the best of both worlds as far as I know.

EDIT: Fixed typo.

The matter here is where his PC supports Mac, not whether 2 OSes can be installed together. I installed both Win XP Home and Vista on the same HD. =P

By the way... has anyone considered trying out Windows Wista BETA? It's out for awhile (legally) already.

Sorry for bumping old topics, but I've found a much easier way of doing this.. Basically, you can run a OS as an application on a Home OS.. So I can be running Windows XP, but I can also have my Windows XP Server on the same computer, running in the background. It's very flexible, and can be used with lots of other OSes.. (Not 100% sure on Macs though..)

Heres the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vmware

I'm installing XP Pro on XP Pro right now, to test it out...
I would love to use linux/mac.. be on the imperio is just being with the drak side of the force.

If you can run macOS on your pc tell us. I would love to do it to. I guess it should be easier now because mac uses intel processors... (i think not the wisest choice but... brand names sells).
