No I wouldn't bother. They just say a random food item. Just give your pet anything to eat and it will be fine.

I don't know why, but the random event even appears when the pet is bloated. You can simply ignore it.

Yup, what they said, ignore it. Sometimes the event ask for items that is too expensive, it's not worth it.
