Strange, the teams that had good performance in round 1 but terrible performance in round 2 tended to face off with weak teams in round 1. The more I look at this, the more it seems like a proportion in disguise.
No. It's just that all the highest-scoring teams in round 1 attracted a lot of hangers-on in round 2. Those people barely played, and so they dragged the teams' averages down (remember, scoring is done on a weighted average). I was predicting a big Mystery Island loss because they were the strongest team in round 1 (and one of the most vocal when it came to "recruiting" new members on the neoboards, which is actually a bad idea), and sure enough, they lost. And my team, the "underdog" Roo Island, which has a policy against recruiting or forming "alliances" (like "Terror Citadel" or "Haunted Moon," where the winning team invites everyone they beat to join them), did second-best this round. It's all about the quality of players, not the quantity.
If it's an average, could you explain why the average cumulative score for a team is going up? Are people really playing harder?

Either that or my war theory is working >.> Team Darigan won the war when battlers actually had a choice of which team to pick.... so perhaps they look good.

I think so... I know I and several of my friends got more wins in round 2 than in round 1. But no one really understands how the scores work, because TNT has been intentionally vague when discussing it.

professorelite, it doesn't really matter why people join a team, or how many people do. The "favorite" (MI, which tons of people jumped to because it was the highest-scoring team last round) lost this round, and the popular Darigan was the lowest-scoring of the winners.
The winners of the second round were shown in a negative light. Either by their low scores in the last round or the previews when the round began.

MI had the highest score and was therefor bound to lose.

For Darigan there was this review:
"In the first round, Darigan looked impressive against a lesser opponent (Terror Mountain) while Meridell fought off a courageous comeback led by Maraqua's Elon Hughlis. Will Darigan's defenders be able to lock down Meridell's feisty trio of forwards, or will the Citadel buckle (yet again) in the face of some "real" competition? "

Haunted Woods didn't win by too much in the first round and was one of the 3 lowest scoring winners last round

And not many people would have thought that the not-so-popular and lowest scoring team to make it to round two (Roo Island) would make it through to round 3.

I personally believe that Roo Island has the highest chance next round, but I'll keep rooting for my orginal team.
You never know.. since a bunch of people who's teams lost will be picking new teams.. the majority of people find new teams are losers like me... and they may pick Roo island because of its high score, so losers may dilute Roo Island's power.
looks like TNT has decided to implement the 5 second rule from soccer for the third round... should change things a bit, although we still don't know how they are calculating final scores...

I so called that somehwereToungue can't find where but I predicted the 5 sec rule...at leas tthe penalty is not a free kick...eithery way it shouldn't affect the scores much, since all games have loop :cough: holes, we, the players just have to find themToungue
Just a heads up: I was frozen for having an 11-0 game, and it's true that the score is set back to 9-0 if you have a 10-0 game. To prevent any further tragedies, I will not tell anybody how to get a 10-0 game.

I don't know what I'll do for the cup now. I don't want to start on my gallery account, that's a freezable offense, but I can't exactly play on my main right now...

Go Haunted Woods!
