Hi all, I have a Lupe and his stats are

Level 37
Strength 72
Defence 70
Hit Points 75

At the moment I train HP and 2 codestones are not very expensive, but is it better to use the lab? The only thing that makes me cry is that he's a self-painted Darigan Lupe... But when it's cheaper to use the lab I will survive a species/colour-change Wink

Unfortunately he's not my only pet, I have two others on this account, but I won't transfer them.

Thanks!
to be perfectly honest, its up to you whether you want a random colour and cheaper training or training as fast as you are now. The lab, on average, will be beneficial, so...
... and he changes color to pink!!

Good start! Blink
just have sure that you do training in addition to the lab to keep your stats even
I hate labbed pets. Their defense is almost always crap compared to HP and movement, which makes for horrible defensive battle.
I used to lab my lupe, and I am grateful for all the HP and strength I got out of it. But I got sick of him being some random ugly species all the time, so I stopped after a couple years. Unfortunately, I hadn't known when I started labbing how important defence is, so I had an unbalanced pet. I'm now finally training his defence up to match his strength, and it's expensive. So definitely make sure you train level and defence to keep them balanced with the strength and HP from the lab, or you may end up regretting it down the line.

Also, I think a lot of people expect big results from the lab very quickly, and that's not really how it works. The process is slow... some weeks all you'll get are gender changes, lost levels and movement points. So labbing is a very long-term thing.
The Lab basically takes care of HP for you, so try looking at it this way: You Lab, so you no longer have to train HP. That's one out of four stats you no longer need to train (assuming you count Level, and assuming you want Defense, which I'm guessing you do given that it's balanced with your Strength), so your training time and costs are cut down by a fourth. That fourth adds up.

Some people train Defense up before Strength when Labbing to make sure it doesn't get pwned by the Lab too quickly, though when I did that I wound up cranking Defense a bit too quickly compared to Strength. Yes, your Pet's Defense should take a hit, but the hit for me was a slow one. Overall the Lab does help people out, at the cost of not letting you maintain a stable Species/Gender, and having to keep a careful eye on your stats.
Just another opinion. I'm waiting to get the 125 boost on att & def before labbing. I would hate getting any specie that don't like me. I use to have a lab pet... i labbed him every day to get another thing and not a blumaroo and all that i got was a green chia... i gave up and visited the pound.

But i advice do as all the others said and you will be fine.

Thank you for making a sweeping generalization of labbed pets and sharing your prejudices with us without offering any real constructive advice or opinions!

--> Opinion: Regardless whether or not someone cares at all about even stats at the present time, I would still recommend balancing them from the get-go, because in the long run it will save you a great deal of money if you were to ever change your mind, and your pet would be that much better off as a result. In summary, you can't rely on the lab ray alone. I am still paying out the nose today for training because I was too lazy to train two and half years ago.
Like what they said, balancing your stats is important and will save you lots of NP in the long run.

I am also suffering from not doing so in the beginning. Currently paying 6 codestones daily and my defence and agility is still a long way from my HP.
I actually started a new pet because of not balancing. Granted, I used to lab because of the Color/Species changes. When I started battling, boy did I regret it. Made a new pet and started labbing it and training to balance it out. Right now I'm about 10 points shy from hitting both 200 boosts.
