ok. i have labbed my pet for a long time and never done training. so my stats were obviously pretty unbalanced.
Level : 45
Health : 342
Strength : 171
Defence : 20
Move : 67

so right now i'm training my level till the 150-200 range. wondering about my bad defence.

1) is there any item that permanently reduces the hit points of the pet? so that i can train in the 120-150 level instead of 150-200?

--- here i know that the lab never decreases the hp points as that is the only stat that has been going up consistently.

2) is it worth training my defense up at that level (7 or 8 codestones a point)?

3) can i increase only defence by any other means? like for levels we can use the deadly dice and terror trove scratchcards?

---- coltzans shrine maybe?

4) what are the percentages of stat increases from kitchen quests? i mean the idb says that the stat increases are random. of that does it particularly favour hit point increase or something like that?

5) any other info to help me balance my pets stats

thanks a lot.

I'm new in here, i think you should train another pet, coz it is too expensive to train this pet.. coz you need to use 7-8 codestone to train the defences to 21. So the best way is train another pet is cheaper than training this. Just hope that this will help you.
Your other option is to ignore defence completely, use percentage-based defensive items, get a jade/LEV and go offensive. He has a packet of stats there Toungue
I would go for offence.Just train??level and then Str.
Use 5 terror trove/day.You should have done that that since you begun to lab your pet.But that is good9terror trove) if you have only one pet.
I have a pet that has 600+ hp, 550 str boost and 200 defence boost( 244 actually)And from 130 at defence, i have train only str. so 100 points only from quests, lab and kquest( in a year i think)
But if you want to go defensive, train it.
Just think: if you're gonna train def, you'll spend a lot more money on that, and by the time you'll have your bank account empty, you'll have a 300 str/def pet let's say, compared with a 450-500str pet. It's your call actually.
if you wanna train level you can use both 5 terror trove and 5 festering fortune scratchcards a day...

KQ give level, hp, strength, defence and movement points, I beleive you get double hp to the other stats, but its still not a bad idea to do KQ's while you build up level...

You can also use silver knight neggs (and maybe a couple other kinds too) to boost defence

If I were you I'd train try and catch defence up but it's really a personal choice...
Defense is very important, but I do agree with these people's advice, and just pointing out for mods to notice, this I think goes in weapon advice and comparisons board but not sure. Anyway, what's your budget, if you have a fairly large one and can increase it daily then potions and neggs are a great way to get level, strength, and defense up. Get 10-15 tt's a day for level. Stop using the lab, is an obvious one. If you don't have the budget to buy potions or neggs train your defense after level to 55, the 55 boost is a very good defensive boost and at least allows you to block a good bit of damage from people with stronger boosts. Kitchen quests in my time on neopets have about 70% of the time given me useful stats. And even if you don't get a stat most of the time you get an item that can be sold back for a fair to good price giving you more np to train. So definetly use them.

Coltzan's shrine isn't really worth it for stats but since it's free it wouldn't hurt.

You can only use 5 TTs per day, but I hear Festering Fortunes work too.
Don't count on being able to earn back a ton of Levels from the scratchcards. You'll be lucky to be pulling a Level a day (more likely once every three or four days) from the Terror Troves.

I have only two questions to ask you: Do you prefer Two Player? If the answer to that is, "no," or that you don't care, don't waste your time training Defense. It's irrelevent in One Player.

The second, more important question, is whether you want to waste the time and funds. Training only Strength is far easier than bothering with both (half the cost, and half the time), and in your situation you would see results from it infinitely more quickly.

That's not true, 1 player opponents follow stat boosts like 2 player opponents, which means when a 1 player opponent's strength surpasses your defense boost your defensive weapons block less damage than they would otherwise do.
well till now i have been only into one player bd and wars. but with the kind of investment i'm putting into my pets stats i'd like to battle more variety of people. so started with two player. only my high hp helps have some say in the battle. but usually get my backside kicked around

Can you explain how these scratch cards work? I also saw some one collecting 100 riches cards but did not understand that either and when I asked I was told to mind my own business...yikes
