My battle pet is poogle - therefor I'm not training by lab ray, only codestones. I'm I missing out on much? Should I zap him? (I can make another poogle)

Do all of you combine zaping with training?
You should always zap except in the following circumstances:

1) You're not training as well as zapping (unless you want to pay for that mistake in both time and NeoPoints later).

2) You're running Species weapons.

3) You have your Pet painted the ideal Species/Color.

The key point about the Lab is that it cranks your Pet's HP, leaving you to simply train Strength and Defense. It very easily pays itself off multiple times in the long-run, and that time spent not training HP in the Academy can be put to training Strength and Defense, rather than all three (effectively cutting off a third of both costs and time, minus the cost of the Lab itself). If you were to only train Strength, the Lab becomes even more essential for boosting a Pet's stats even more quickly (though that's moreso focused on your battling preference, and also the time you spend in One Player over Two Player).
I did #3... I painted my pet Darigan (Eyrie), now I refuse to use the Lab Ray on him - I realize now I should have just waited, but I was too trigger happy. Toungue
Darigan is yummy though.

Charge people to look at him.
Lmao, or you could just hope the lab give a cool colour (robot eat your heart out Toungue)
Or you can zap him hoping the lab will turn him MSP.
Or yellow!
I had a Darigan Krawk but eventually decided to lab him since the lab ray could save me that much np. If my first month of labbing, I saved over 1 mill np in training costs!

Just make sure not to lab anymore than you can keep up with by training in the training school. If your stats get more than a few points out of balance, take a break from the lab until you're caught up again.
So basically - you try to keep a balance with stats lab gives you? (raising your defence and level while lab raises your hp?) You really save that much on training?

I used to lab a yurble for two months (without training) - in a period of month he lost 25 levels and gained only around 10-15hp. That's why I'm quite sceptical...

training and labbing is very expensive so as i've heard. it's used mostly to give a new neopet a head start on stat building, and to give your neopet a new look if you don't want to go through the process of a paint brush.
