I dunno about the money...you might be able to make some money if you find some good equips, but I think people go there mainly for the exp and for the prestige of killing him. (And for now, for the equips that only he drops as of now.)
I'm guessing drops are shared, but one person probably loots it all and distributes it. Hopefully you know the people you're fighting with so someone doesn't run off with all the loot.

Yeah, that's why we have a Zakum honor system. First person takes two items and leaves. Then another, and so on. Until the three party leaders are left. The leaders get whatever is left over (usually the most horrible ones, but party leader gets the most EXP) after everyone chooses. But once again, you have to be able to trust whoever you are with.

That's like one captain of a kickball team picking all the members for his team, then the other captain choosing. Why wouldn't you all just go in order, picking one thing at a time, then going back through the order? O_o
Because, it wont be fair for others since the leaders get the most EXP and get as much mesos at the same time. 2 item per person (non-leaders) is a good away to divide amongst 18 people.
No, it's still two items per person, but everyone picks up one at a time until everyone has one, then the people choose again. That way, the good items are spread among twice as many people.
