Do you have to be that species to use the Transmogrification Potion or could you be a different species?

You can be any species.

EG : If I had a Lupe Transmogrification Potion, and I used it on my Kacheek, my Kacheek (regardless of colour) would turn into a Mutant Lupe

cool ... now have to figure out how neopets auctions work... want to buy a Lenny Transmogrification Potion

If you are a first time buyer for any sort of item like a Transmog Potion, I'd reccommend checking the Shop Wiz first, then the Trading Post & lastly auctions. You have to be careful not to overpay when bidding.

That's just my 2 cents worth though

bleh, i didnt know u could use any transmorgrification potion on a pet, i should have checked b4 i transed my ixi, ah well--- i still like it tho

btw, is there a way to see what other transmorg forms there are? like the image, cos i onli know where to find the paint brush colours. thanks

The mutant images (the ones you get from the transmog potions) can also be found at the rainbow pool. Simply look up "Mutant" in the drop-down box.
