20k points... you'll get it back quickly, but still. The alliance only really has 4 or 5 active, powerful members. Still, you kept 3.2 mil metal around? That's asking for it... at least you get 70% of your defence back.

I usually have more than that lying around. I thought that someone like that would have no use for that little (much) metal =(
Ok, new defences goal:
10k Missile Launchers
8k Small Lasers
6k Heavy Lasers
4k Ion Cannons
2k Plasma Cannons (100m metal, 100m crystal, and alot of deut)
1k Gauss Cannons
That adds up to:
196m Metal,
155m Crystal, and
62m Deut
That totals to 413k points.
That means I have to ->
Delete and make new colonies
Make them pro
Put defences on them too
Get nanite 2 (or 3, hopefully)
Build up a minor fleet (Like 1k B Ships or something)
Raid more

missile launchers cost the same as small lasers in total materials, but are weaker. Why not invest in small lasers instead?

I know you need crystal for solar sats, but still. It's relatively low cost for a lot more defence, especially if you're building on the scale of 10k installations.

It's relatively low cost for a lot more defence, especially if you're building on the scale of 10k installations.It's true both take up 2k resources but metal is easier to produce than crystal...the general formula is 4:2:1 so 1500 metal +500 crystal would be equivalent to 2500 metal which is more than missile launchers. When you build solar sats in large proportions you need all the crystal you can get. It's only 15 more weapon power so unless you have aton of crystal, you can't invest in too many lasers..

that's true, but you're not trading for it -- you're mining it, hopefully at a rate of at least 3:1 metal to crystal. Also, metal from raids usually comes with crystal in at least 3:1.

lasers need the crystal and since it's 1:3 in reality, (it's more like 2:3 for me) lasers cost more than launchers.04-10-2006, 07:26 PM
