OK, my sister's account got hacked yesterday. I remember seeing it last at the entrance of orbis tower last night before I left the house to go to another party. Then when I arrived home, she told me that she cannot log in so I went on and I found out that her character (level 33 sin) was being used by someone else, and when I tracked it, it was suddenly in The Swamp of Despair I. When I checked the character, some of the equipment were changed (sauna robe into level 30 attire, and gloves turned silver silvia which she never even bought). She then told me to check again the next day when the hacker is off.

Then the next day (today), we checked again. The hacker is off, she tried to log in to her account. Same password, but THE PIN WAS CHANGED. Well, that's it for her account, unless we have to guess the pin in 10,000 ways starting from 0000 onwards.

Here are some more details:

1. She NEVER gave her password and username to anybody, BUT she remember seeing on the same day someone asking for her username and password, but she ignored it.

2. She NEVER went to any other maple story sites aside from Maple Global site, Hidden Street and Sleepywood. This would make it impossible for keylogger to steal what was done in the computer.

3. She created another character in scania just to kill off for fun on that same day, and in the free market, she saw a character flying around (someone who probably hacked the system).

4. Her computer has a lot of popups and spyware, but this was for like 6 months already.

5. The secret question in her maple global account, she didn't answer it honestly so now, she forgot it <_<. Problem with this now is that she cannot change her password.

So is there any ways we can get her changed pin aside from guessing and without getting into her maple global account (see number 5, she's too stupid to guess one important factor of an account...).
Very sorry to hear this.

I dunno how this could have happened, but I do have a suggestion. Since your sister still knows the password to the account, she needs to go to MapleGlobal.com and change it immediately. This way, she can keep whoever hacked it out of the account while she tries to regain access to play MS.

I believe there's something in the GMS FAQ about fixing lost PINs. You can try that, or the only other option I know of is to start at 0000 and try to figure out the PIN. =\

Edit: Here is the FAQ question. There's also one on getting your secret question answer.
Does she look at videos on sleepywood? That section isn't exactly safe. I find it strange that the person is actually playing on the account, instead of just stripping it...maybe it's someone she knows?

Maybe she could try emailing the staff? I doubt that'll work.

Oh, and regarding #3: If someone "hacked the system", there'd be way more stuff going on than someone flying in free market.

OK thanks sailor psychic. Smile I'll do my best.

And no Spaz, she doesn't view the videos. The only place she goes in sleepywood is the guides section.

Sorry to hear. =X My little brother got hacked a while back and lost around a million or so. O_o

But have you tried scanning her computer for ad/spy/malware? It's always possible somehow for the spyware to lead to a keylogger or something.

Problem with her computer is that there's no antispyware program... I guess she really has to reformat it.

I just had her send her personal info... but she forgot one important thing.... she forgot to supply THE EMAIL ADDRESS....

Download a anti spyware from like microsoft, they have a good antispyware system, it worked for me, and its free (of course it isn't the best, the best things always costs money Toungue). Oh yeah reformatting isnt the best idea. Viruses stick onto files onto the files on the computer, so you'll have 2 delete the viruses 1st. (unless your sister was gonna delete all her files on computer). I just learned that a few weeks ago =X, in the past i kept reformating and some viruses never dissapear. Im very sorry 2 hear that ur sister got hacked, and like every1 said change ur password if possible, and that about it.
OMG, the hacker logged back in. I still see my sister's character in full armor though so I guess nothing has been taken.

How many days until Maple Global replies?

And by the way should I talk to the hacker? I think there's a risk there though and might aim at my account.

If that's the case I'd suggest to format the computer.
It's easy to prevent from viruses and spyware, but some of them once installed in the computer are too hard to get rid of, and six months of this happening do not help.

Don't talk to him/her. It won't do any good, and it'll make him/her aware of your awareness.

I have no idea. =\

Did your sister not change her password? That should at least keep the hacker from accessing her account, so no more damage can come to it.
