Several months ago I made a topic here titled Time for Change and pointing out several of the current issues. Since then we have had a forum change and new forum mods, which is progress. But, the community here, is all but dead since then. Now, I am not a staff here, and therefore don't know any of the goings on behind the scenes, but I do know what I see on the surface, and it's not looking good. The forums are dead, I don't care what you say, they're dead. All the active posters with half a brain are gone now. We might as well just change it to MapleStory forums now, seriously, the focus isn't on neo at all. Looking at the iDB Raters, virtually none of them are active now. And of the ones that actually might get on the site once every couple months, they don't even play neopets anymore. Apranum appears to be the only person keeping the main site updated, GIR seems to be somewhat keeping the forums clean (I know he's the one fixing most of the posts I need to report), hatter always seems to have some new project he's working on and nothing ever comes of it, and finalhit was working on new forum pets but that seems to have died out as well. My point is, you're still over-staffed yet only a select few of them even do anything, and the few of them that do don't actively play neo anymore. Most all the active mods on the forums don't either. The forum community is dead, aside from the MS board and an ocassional WW game there's nothing here. The horrible lagg is still present as well. Unless the iDB is to sit and rot some changes still do need to take place.
1. Get Finalhit over here again, it's still supposedly his site, yet he dosen't seem to even bother with it.
2. Boot out all of the inactive staff/staff that don't play neo. It is absurd to have most looked to battledome site on the internet staffed by people that don't even play the game.
3. The forums. Do something, get them active again, run some battle tournaments like in the good old days.... What ever happened to that battledome league that dega was talking about?
3.2. The forums lagg and look horrible, I cannot stress how much I miss the old IPB. If nothing else, get rid of this awful lagg, finishing the forum pets or some other project would be nice as well.
1337. Don't forget that this is a battle site, lets get the focus back to it. Theres really no point otherwsie. As I said, you might as well make it a MapleStory forum.
I'm just saying, that although some positive changes have been made, there's still a ton to do, and things just seem to be worsening. The biggest problem that I have is the forum community.... Starting years ago at the PPT Battledome board and then to the iDB Forums, I made a lot of friends and have a lot of memories here. It is very saddening to see that it has discentigrated down to this.
Something needs to be done or idb will just become a thing of the past......

First, don't bash MS for Idb's inactiveness.... Now with your points
We can't just drag FH over from COH back to Idb. People's interest change, and we can't force anyone to do anything.. And going by that plan, should we just kick FH out then? We have Forte as our Admin now, so we're good

I agree that it's a good idea to "kick out" the inactive staff members.. But if we do that, we'll have ZERO staff. Since every staff member is "inactive".
I know some of you may not agree with me, but Neopets is dead. I know few people that still even play/like neo. THIS is why Idb is going down. Idb is "becoming a thing of the past" because that is what exactly Neopets is becoming.
The only way to "bring back" Idb it to "bring back" Neo.

The forum is dead? That's up for debate. I don't consider hundreds of new posts per day dead. Finalhit isn't dead either, he's actively working on a new forum pets system and has publicly asked people who are interested in helping to PM him. Also, I can't see how having an active maplestory section hurts the forum at all.
P.S. I'm fighting for IDB War 2 to continue, so don't count that out either.
The Forums are nowhere near as active as they used to be and a majority of what the posts now are pointless... I am in no way bashing the MS forum or whatever, I like it and think that it is a nice adition to the site, but it seems to be the only active spot here. My point is, the focus is no longer on neopets or the battledome as it should be.
No, neopets is not dead, it is, in fact, as active as ever. The McDonalds and other advertisements over the last couple years have brought millions of new users to the game. A lot of the old faces are gone, yes, but there are way more new ones.... You just need to get the word out, there are way more battlers at the moment than ever in the history of neo...
Not every staff member is inactive, there is a minority that still appear to be around, but in that essense, yes, kick the inactive ones. They're not doing anything anyway, what have ya got to lose? And then obviously, you'd need to hire some new staff, which won't happen right now because the site has so many already o_o
And as far as finalhit's involvement, it is necessary if anything major is to happen. This is his site and he is the only one that can make/approve/disapprove any major decisions.
All that I am saying is, to the member, idb seems to be accelerating downhill ever the faster ;/

A new skin would be nice (but going back to IPB wouldn't -> Security Issues)
I agree with kage... neopets is downhill. But the people that plays is much more active now.. but on neopets site. I guess that "neopeters" don't use other sites... but they use the resources from outtersites.
I may be crazy but i like how is IDB... in general they are some things that i don't like. Like the supension of the war... as you can see nothing critical or big.

Anyways, we've already been over the whole raters thing.
As for inactivity, Neopets is dead or dying, whether you like it or not. You had to see it coming, seeing as their administration is even more apathetic than ours. <.<
The forums not dead. No, we arn't nearly as active as we were before, but that doesn't mean we're dead. It's more like unconsious if anything.
And with the way neopets is going the only way to savage this forum would to be 1. For neopets to stop dieing or 2. For us to change what this forum is for, which actually it seems that this forum is more active with maplestory than neopets.
Yes I know I'm rather new here and whatnot...But please don't bire my head off..
Over the past two years or so, we have seen Neopets evolve from a primarily customer based website, to that of a fully-fledged corporate business. In doing so, it has compromised some of its' customer services. As far as I have seen, this site is fairly active, if a little 'scattered' if I may use that word.
I agree with Yoshi when they talk about getting rid of all the staff members who have either been lacking in their duties, or have quit Neo. If they still want to come to this site and chat on the general forums then nothing is stopping them from doing so.
The off-neo boards are there as a sort of backup per say. It is almost obligatory nowadays to have a 'general chat' board, and it is for this reason that such boards on here are a good idea.
Neopets may be on the decline, but that is no reason why this site ought to decline right along with it. Yes it is primarily a Neopets -based site, but it is also an online community of its own and it is for that reason why so many people care about the 'state' of the site as it were. -Shrugs lightly-
Yes it can be improved, but so can every other site on the net. I admire all the time and effort and work you all as Mods and testers put into making the site as thorough and informative as possible, and I know it has helped me and thousands of other people no end.

I think most of us have concerns with both Neopets and their direction, and with forum issues. Things evolve, as in the nature of things, peoples interests and time commitments change, new people need to come, old people need to leave, that's the way of any successful organization. I won't disagree with some of the points made, but will disagree with others, including some of those made in defense of the site, but I think this thread is more for user comments than staff thoughts at this point. Keep providing input, it is being read in at least some quarters. And for the record, I personally still slog away at training my pet, and am usually in the forums at some point daily (which may or may not be considered a good thing by some of you ;-D).
