I recently purchased one of these to use on my lab pets with more feminine names, so I wouldn't have to worry about refreshing forever on the accounts where I didn't have the Lab Scientist, as the description here says:

Strangly, when a pet male pet uses this cape, his gender is switched to female. Guess it's a girly toy.

Only it turns out -- not so much.

I've used it several times, but if you will, allow me to run over what I've done, just in case the error is mine, so I won't sell the thing off needlessly.

I've used it every move and won the fight. I've used it every move and lost the fight. I've never seen a screen such as the one you get with the Lab Scientist, when it says that he's just changed your pet's gender from male to female, or from female to male.

If I'd seen that, I would simply have withdrawn from the fight -- but I've never seen anything even close to that.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Has the weapon itself been changed? The item description says: This sun-blessed cape can do all sorts of things, depending on how your Neopet uses it., which is the sort of mumbo-jumbo that usually indicates that something unexpected might happen to your pet if you feed it to them/use it in battle/play with it, etc.

Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Anyone? Bueller?

As far as I know if a male pet uses it in battle its gender becomes female but it gives no indication and if a female pet uses it in battle nothing specal happens. So I have no idea what could have happened so that your pet stayed male, perhapes some fluke?

That's what I thought, so I tried it several times, with two different male pets -- and nothing. Nada.

Does it have to be a two player battle, maybe? I only fight one-player, and that was the only possible thing I could think of that made it non-functional.

It's really annoying, because this would be a perfect solution to keeping my female pets female, w/o having to refresh for hours to get the Lab Scientist on the two accounts where I'm still missing him. I've done the refreshing thing twice, and had him show up out of the blue on a third, but, man, was I ever looking forward to never having to refresh again. =D
