Hmm... favourite is probably Digimon Seasons 1, 2 and 3, and maybe Naruto.??Most of the anime I watch are DVD's and VHS tapes that my friend lets me borrow, and for all intents and purposes, there's only about 10 episodes to the entire series and most are obscure (or bad).

Has anyone seen any of these: Battle Athletes Victory, Orphen, Nadesico? When school starts, anime club votes on which of those to see. We'll see one episode of each to help us decide, but does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations about any of those?

I have all but one video of the Battle Athletes: Victory.??I haven't watched it in years, but I do remember liking it??One thing that I do remember is that there's about 3 guys in the entire anime (slightly more, I'm sure), and that the whole thing is revolved around females (it's an all female school, or whatever it was). So if the group is mostly guys, they may be like "OMG GIRLY!".

As for sub vs. dubs.??I definitely prefer dubs, but will watch subs (like Naruto) if I want to get further in the story and the dub is nowhere near the sub.??Subs get annoying after a while and do take away from the action when a lot of action is happening. (and opposite from others, I don't really think Japanese voices are all that amazing.??Everyone only hates voice acting in the one they can understand.).??Also, much of the subbing, even if it's not fan-subbed, tends to not match up to what they're really saying. :\

Ok so we're completely dimissing all the anime films of the world?? The one that comes to mind first, which IS anime, as in anime IS AKIRA!! A genre defining-awe inspiring-jaw dropping-amazing story, and all taht from the 70s! Then there's spirited away... surely these are worthy of a mention in a talk about japanese animation??
I saw Spirited Away. I didn't really like it. I also saw Beyond the Clouds. That was a little more interesting, but I didn't really like it either. I guess movies just aren't my thing and anime movies are no exception. Oh, and I've never seen Akira.
I saw Howl's Moving Castle & I absolutely adored it. I thought the story was fantastic, & the animation suberb.
I liked Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, Spirited Away. (in that order)

I also liked what I saw of Howl's Moving Castle (which is about the final 30-45 minutes).

As that may be, I didn't really care for Akira at all.
