Do you purchase the original japanese releases or other variants (country, language, bundle/content size, etc...)?

All my dvds are US Region 1 official english releases. I'm not certain how they will all fair say 10-20 years down the line when dvds could possibly be made obsolete - but I'd guess that the optical circular disk format will still be used and whatever becomes the norm will have backwards compatibility with its players (The transition from VHS to DVD obviously couldn't do it unless you bought a dual-player). I'll just have to stock a really nice brand new dvd player for such an occasion.
Off the top of my head, I'm not too certain, to be honest. A couple of R2 original Japanese releases, the rest R1 I believe. Anything of good quality to avoid the local monopoly, frankly.

My dad's somewhat obsessive with regard to keeping our systems up-to-date so I don't think I'll have too much to worry in that regard for now. Wink

And has anyone else had the chance to check out the recent Evangelion movie with the spicing up of the original animation and whatnot? Shinji certainly looks a lot better, for one. Toungue
I think it was brought up a few pages ago, the new Rebuild Eva movies.

From the previews alone, the animation looks absolutely amazing. The music isn't bad either, more beat to fit the imagery. I like how they redid Rei. She looks more...well...lively I guess, atleast compared to herself in the original series. I can't wait until it gets licensed for overseas release. It'll likely hit theaters on a very limited and selected run before making it on DVD, probably Blu-Ray as well.

I'm wondering how the 3rd ending will be like. Gainax is in on the production as well, and knowing them...I hope my low expectations are proven false.
Yeah, I know it was brought up, but I was wondering if anyone else had actually seen it. Smile And my personal verdict is that everything looks incredible, character designs (Shinji almost reaches bishie status *gasp* character still as painful to watch as ever though) etc. even the angels (heck, especially the angels!).

My faith in Gainax has been restored somewhat with the glorious ride that was Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but not my faith in Gainax endings, seeing as TTGL had a simply horrid last few minutes. Ohmy
The second movie of the four-part series is supposed to be out this year. I'm wondering who the new girl will be and how she's supposed to impact the storyline and characters. I was hoping it would be Mana from the Girlfriend of Steel game which acted like an episode to the series but wasn't canonical it seems. That way you could ease some tension for Shinji and create some personal rivalry between the girls.

From the reports though, doesn't look like it'll be her.
Meh, I'm not quite as fond of Mana as much of the fandom (read: fanboys) is. Heck, I pretty much dislike complications in any form (blame the ShinjixAsuka shipper in me Toungue), which is why I dropped the Shinji Ikari Raising Project manga like a hot potato. Angelic Days irritated me as well but at least ended well. Fanboys liek drama it seems. Fingers crossed on Datenroku, but that seems headed for a Rei ending. :/

Don't see how that(introducing Mana)'d ease tension for Shinji, too.
Revived once more, to rant.

Okay, so I'm watching Code Geass, yes? Great show, currently airing on adult swim. If you have spare time, I'd advise watching it - it's ~6 episodes away from where it gets a big-budget upgrade and goes from above-average to awesome, and the second season is halfway done in Japan and is even moar awesome. In said second season (HOOGE SPOILERS MON)
I have nothing good to say about CG, so I'll keep my trap firmly shut. Shutup Entertaining, but in the trainwreck sort of way.

That said, killing off potential straight love interests while building up BL tension is absolutely hilarious. Toungue
Heh, it can be kind of ridiculous at times :3;; but I loves it no matter what anyone says.

And yes, I've gotten over my initial rage. Honestly, I should have seen it coming - they spent the last two episodes focusing on her/their relationship, and nobody (feel free to point to counterexamples) ever does that outside of a romance series without a bad ending Sad
Hey, ppl, have you ever watcher Ghost Hound? I love this anime beacuse of its mentals trauma XD love when you dont know what will the hero do LOL

I wasn't too fond of the character designs to begin with, but it kept me watching till the end (which was a fairly decent one, too). Admittedly there was nothing else to watch that season XD. I enjoyed Makoto's character a lot, and the plot was sufficiently intriguing. Could have done with more pairing fluff though (I so wanted to sock Taro when he told Miyako that she was his sister's reincarnation Dry).
