I probably turned you off at "Creators of Gunbound", but from the Closed Beta I neglected to tell you about (whoops), this will be a very good online game. About five days after I downloaded the game, however, the servers shut down until the open beta began.

The open beta has begun.

All countries are able to participate besides people in Korea and Latin America. The game is an online multiplayer real-time combat game. It is quite similar to the Dynasty Warriors games, except for the fact that you get to summon pet monsters (Spiders to Dragons), you have many other players to smack around, and you can go into Chaos Mode, which turns you into the medieval equivalent of a tank.

Players choose from five classes (Mage, Warrior, Blacksmith (High-Damage, Low-speed tank character), Archer, and Ninja), and proceed to beat each other to a pulp -- or simply go into story mode, the widely accepted best way to get early EXP. You level up and get to alocate stat points, and get Gold to buy new armor and smash people around more. It's in 3D, doesn't look "kiddie" at all, and the classes are all well-balanced.

Please note that all my info is from the closed beta back in August; I'm downloading the new version, which is a HUGE file (233 MB -- Dialup users, you've been warned), and most likely, plenty has changed. I'll post some screenshots sometime when the download ends (about an hour, since the download server's very heavily trafficked at the moment, and only getting worse).

Otherwise, I encourage the rest of you to get out there and start crackin' some heads. Happy smashing!

EDIT: My connection speed to their servers is as slow as a dead snail that's trapped under a rock. I'm gonna have to wait an hour or two to start the download. Until then, visit the Main Rakion Site and check out the videos.

sounds interesting... but... how does the fighting work... is there punch/kick... or.... what is the requirements... and yeah....

You're set in a medieval era with one of five classes, mentioned above. You're placed in a level map, rules are set (Golem Match, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Story Mode, more possibly if I ever get to see the darn open beta), and you attempt to complete the objective (Destroy the enemy's Master Golem, Kill everyone on the opponent's team, complete the Story Mode Objective, etc.). It's real-time and multi-directional (fields aren't flat), and all characters have different moves depending on which mouse buttons you click (Right for Super, Left for Normal, Both for another special move or grab; some are button sequences). Your mouse is your camera, your aiming (for ranged weapons, such as the Archer's bow and Blacksmith's throwing axes), and your attack function.

Alright, since the download server is now a fossilized snail crushed under Olympus Mons, I'm going to try to set my computer to download the game bright and early before anyone from North America gets home from work or school. I was kinds hoping to be able to play tonight... Ah well, if I can wait a whole week for the closed beta servers to re-open, I can wait 12 to download the game.

I just nearly poked an eye out involving registration.

I downloaded the launcher, but when I launch it, you need to log in. I click "registration" and then I get taken to the registration page. I try registering only the stuff outside the lighter-shaded box, but it won't let me. And on that it says that those are for existing ID's? O_o And if it is to register, you need to be in Singapore or Malaysia or something.

EDIT: Nevermind. Just realized I was on the wrong site. I jsut went and googled it.

ahhaha yeah i just went to the site, this game looks GREAT! but my comp vid card ain't good enough....i wish i had geforce.... in a couple years i'll get a good enough computer...

Heh, I got a invatation to play the closed beta... but i'm waiting for my new video card to come before I do play it!

After four corrupt downloads, the darn thing finally installed. However, now my connection's acting up since everyone in the house is playing it at the same time. :bleh: I'd upload pics, but since my current data pipeline is about the size of a coffee stirrer, I can't.

HAMMERTIME! This is me smashing things in Story Mode. The little spider dudes are Naks; you can summon them as soon as you start the game, provided you're smart enough to equip it.



Same to ya. There's still some language glitches. This screenshot's from the Cozy Tower level, which was temporarily named after a Gunbound world. There are several other Gunbound references in the game.

I'll get some more screenshots ASAP. I'll try to get one of Golem Match.
